Dubai Marathon 2027

The Dubai Marathon 2027 takes place on Sunday 17 January 2027 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the 26th edition of what the organisers call the Middle East's oldest international marathon. Alongside the full marathon, the event usually includes shorter races, so it suits elite athletes, club runners and families.

About Dubai Marathon

The Dubai Marathon has been part of the international running calendar since the first edition in January 2000. Held in the cool winter months, the race attracts elite runners chasing fast times as well as thousands of amateurs from across the Gulf, the Arab world, Europe and Africa. The official website says runner registration for the 26th edition is open.

Past editions have combined the full 42.195 km marathon with shorter road races, which makes the event a good fit for mixed groups, where some runners tackle the full distance while friends or family take part in a shorter race. Runners should check the official website for the 2027 race categories, the course map, start times and cut-off rules before they register.

Dubai Marathon 2027 dates and venue

The official date for the Dubai Marathon 2027 is Sunday 17 January 2027. Registration is open on the official Dubai Marathon website, which also publishes race information, course details, start times and bib collection arrangements. Roads along the course are closed on race morning, so plan hotel transfers carefully.

How to get to Dubai for Dubai Marathon

Dubai has two international airports: Dubai International (DXB), one of the busiest hubs in the world, and Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central (DWC) in the south of the city. Sharjah International (SHJ) is another option for travellers from North Africa, Egypt and South Asia. From DXB, the Dubai Metro Red Line, taxis and ride-hailing apps reach most districts. Road closures are common on major event days, so allow extra time, and use the metro where possible to avoid congestion around popular venues.

Where to stay

Popular bases include Downtown Dubai and Business Bay for central access, Dubai Marina and JBR for beach stays, Deira and Bur Dubai for good-value hotels near the old souqs, and Dubai South or Jebel Ali for the DWC area. The winter months are Dubai's peak season, so book early and check cancellation terms.

Planning a group trip to Dubai Marathon

Running clubs, corporate teams and charity groups often travel to Dubai for the marathon. A three- or four-night package can include arrival and bib collection, race day, a recovery day at the beach and an evening at the Dubai Shopping Festival events, which usually run in the same season. Agencies should register runners early and keep records of each participant's race category.

Choose hotels within easy reach of the start area once the course is published, and arrange early-morning transfers, as road closures can make taxis hard to find on race day.
