About Gardens-A-Glow

The National Parks Board (NParks) describes Gardens-A-Glow as a celebration of the Singapore Botanic Gardens as a place where people come together. At its heart are around 250 trees decorated by individuals, families, organisations and community groups. After the festival, the trees will be planted in parks and green spaces across Singapore.

The 2026 programme also includes light installations, exhibitions and a festive display at Bukit Timah Gate celebrating the plants and cultures of Oceania. Donations made through the campaign support the gardens' conservation, research and education work. Full details are on the official Gardens-A-Glow page.

Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) is one of Asia's main hubs, with direct flights from the Gulf, Egypt, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and much of the world. From Changi, the MRT, taxis, ride-hailing and pre-booked transfers reach the city centre. Travellers from Malaysia can also arrive overland via the Johor Bahru crossings.

Botanic Gardens MRT station sits by the Bukit Timah Gate, and buses run along Holland Road and Bukit Timah Road. For a trip to Singapore for Gardens-A-Glow, plan an evening visit to see the lights after dark, perhaps after an afternoon on Orchard Road.

Founded in 1859, the Singapore Botanic Gardens are known for the National Orchid Garden, a patch of original rainforest and wide lawns used for concerts and picnics. December is part of the monsoon season in Singapore, so short, heavy showers are common; bring an umbrella and check the official page for any weather-related changes to evening activities.

Where to stay

Orchard Road and Tanglin are the closest hotel areas and are busy with Christmas shopping in December. Novena and Newton offer more value a few stops away, while Marina Bay and the Civic District suit visitors who also want to see the New Year's Eve fireworks. December is peak season for family travel from Malaysia, Indonesia and the Gulf, so book early.

Planning a group trip to Gardens-A-Glow

A group tour to Gardens-A-Glow fits easily into a year-end Singapore package. Combine an evening at the Botanic Gardens with Orchard Road's Christmas light-up, Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa and the Marina Bay countdown on 31 December.
